Fillies
This piece is entitled 'The Bay Fillies' and was a commission piece I just finished up around the Christmas holidays for a family from west Texas. They are the owners of the two bay fillies which are featured in this piece. Both horses won their respective races in this particular futurity but were composed and painted together as in the same race. It was somewhat of a 'drawing of the straws' to decide who I would have crossing the finish line first but ultimately the reference material I had available to me dictated the best layout for the painting. If only picking a winner were so easy! It was such a joy to paint these awesomly powerful and beautiful creatures.
